BEGINNERS
Fencing is fun, safe, exciting and a great form of exercise! Fencing sharpens your agility, balance, confidence, reflexes and even your mind! Our "Taste of Fencing" courses are just that — they allow you to try the sport of fencing without making a long term commitment or costly investment.
Our "Taste of Fencing" courses consist of an hour-long class, once a week for three weeks. Additional classes are available, once your session is completed. The fee of $96 includes use of the required equipment. Participants will need to buy a $20 fencing glove at the first class. Class size is limited and early registration is highly recommended. Please contact Lisa Martini at lisa@bcaf.com or call 215-862-6112 for information on how to register and to confirm space availability. Please be aware that there are NO REFUNDS given on any of the courses once you have registered. If you have previous fencing experience and would like to inquire about lessons, please contact us.
Students must complete a 3-week "Taste of Fencing" course (or equivalent) that includes safety, history, basic footwork and hand positions prior to joining an ongoing Foil Foundation Class.
The Foundation Fencing course consists of a one-hour class, once a week. Students are accepted into the course on a "rolling admission" basis. There will be the opportunity for students to take more than one class per week if they choose. If you have to miss a class, you don't have to worry about getting left behind or scheduling make-up lessons. The instructors will be covering a basic set of defined skills in a repetitive rotation. Students will remain in the class until they have mastered this defined set of skills and "test out" before moving on to the next level. After successfully "graduating" from the Foundation Fencing course, a variety of advanced classes and additional practice and open bouting times are available.
